Joy after many years of waiting
Since storm No. 3 in 2024, the area of Do Son district (old) has recorded up to 17 landslide points, including very serious landslide points. Landslides have caused 4 households with houses to be swept away, collapsed, buried, without residence, 46 households have not lost their homes, with a very high risk of landslides, collapses, and cannot continue to live. Landslide points are mainly concentrated in Van Huong ward (old), now belonging to Do Son ward.
At the week 40 meeting of 2025 of the City People's Committee, city leaders directed the handling of landslide risks and ensuring safety for 122 households in landslide-prone areas in Do Son ward while waiting for investment procedures for the landslide prevention and population relocation project and the resettlement area construction project. At the same time, carry out procedures to hand over 13 resettlement land plots in residential group 8 (lot A30) to households in the most dangerous locations.
Mr. Dinh Xuan Hung in alley 225 Nghe street has more than 80 m2 of land and a level 4 house of about 45 m2 that was landslide and damaged after Typhoon Yagi.
After that, after a while, Mr. Hung's family had to relocate and rent a house elsewhere to serve the implementation of the landslide prevention project; after a while, his family returned to repair part of the old house to live temporarily.
Recently, Mr. Hung's family was handed over resettlement land, and the long-held expectation has gradually become a reality. "Previously, every time it rained heavily or we heard news of a storm, my family was worried. Now that we have been allocated land in a convenient and safe location, my family is very excited and feels secure in stabilizing our lives," Mr. Hung said.
According to Mr. Dinh Xuan Nhuan - Head of residential group No. 7, Do Son ward, the first 13 households to receive land in the field are all households whose houses or part of their houses have collapsed, currently living in temporary houses or having to rent boarding houses. Many households have lived at the foot of the mountain for many generations, their lives are still difficult, and they never thought that one day they would be allocated spacious residential land, with synchronously planned infrastructure, favorable conditions for people to stabilize their long-term lives.

Accelerate the progress of landslide prevention projects
This time, 13 households were allocated resettlement land near Nguyen Huu Cau street, belonging to Quan Ngoc residential group with an area of 120m2/household. Households are supported by the state to allocate land without collecting land use fees and related expenses. Thanks to that, households are very excited.
Representatives of the leaders of Do Son Ward People's Committee said that the completion of land handover to 13 households at the highest risk of landslides is the first step in the project to prevent and combat mountain landslides combined with relocating households out of dangerous areas in the ward.
According to the project approved by the city, 64 households with about 150 people living in 51 projects in areas at high risk of landslides will be relocated; 13 households that have just been allocated land are groups that need to be prioritized for implementation first.
In the coming time, the locality will continue to coordinate with departments, branches and the city to accelerate the progress of implementing the project items according to the roadmap for the 2026-2028 period, gradually ensuring housing and stabilizing the lives of the remaining households in the area to be relocated.
In addition to implementing landslide prevention items, the locality is also continuing to review and propose housing compensation plans, architectural works and social security policies to help people soon stabilize their lives.
