On the morning of September 9, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Tran Quang Huy - Deputy Director of Road Joint Stock Company 226 (Dien Bien) - said that prolonged heavy rain due to the impact of storm No. 3 has caused serious consequences, especially the traffic system on National Highway 6 , National Highway 279 and National Highway 279b with many landslides.
On National Highway 279, there are 2 points at Km109+200 and Km112+480, passing through Na U commune, Dien Bien district. "Immediately after the incident, we directed functional units to mobilize human resources and machinery to the scene to fix the problem," said Mr. Huy.
Similarly, at National Highway 279b, at Km2+560, a landslide occurred downstream of the culvert, encroaching deep into the roadbed. Earlier, at around 5:00 a.m., heavy rain caused a landslide of mud onto the road surface, causing a traffic jam at Km113+240 on National Highway 12, through Huoi Leng Commune, Muong Cha District.
In Lai Chau province, at around 2:00 a.m. on September 9, at Km 85+700 of National Highway 4D (near the Rong May Glass Bridge tourist site), a large amount of rock and soil from the slope collapsed onto the road, making it impossible for vehicles to pass. Currently, the authorities are coordinating to handle the situation.
At Km 218+80 on National Highway 4H, from Mu Ca commune, Muong Te district (Lai Chau province) to Muong Nhe district (Dien Bien province), traffic is still completely blocked due to a huge amount of landslides and rocks spilling onto the road surface.
