On the morning of July 24, a serious landslide occurred in Duc Nhan commune (Phu Tho province), causing congestion on the main traffic route connecting the highland communes.
Soil and rocks from the positive slope suddenly collapsed onto the road, including many large rocks nearly the size of a passenger bus, completely blocking the road.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Quan Van Giang - Chairman of Duc Nhan Commune People's Committee, said: "Immediately after receiving the information, local authorities and functional forces were present to direct traffic, erect warning signs and plan to handle the amount of landslides. Fortunately, there were no human or property losses.
According to Mr. Giang, this area has experienced landslides in previous heavy rains. However, the amount of rock this time is very large, causing serious obstacles to traffic activities.
The authorities are still trying to deploy remedial measures, while warning people not to pass through dangerous areas when the weather is still complicated.
