Frog bites digging deep, the only road is "swallowed"
Recorded by Lao Dong reporter at the scene along the banks of Vu Gia river through Khuong My village (Vu Gia commune, Da Nang city), more than 400m of river embankment was devastated. The heaviest section is the 100m long section, large embankments were broken by waves and drifted into the riverbed.
The landslide created a steep wall of earth, eating into nearly half of the DX3 road surface, leaving cracks like spider webs. This incident caused a serious landslide on DX3 road, the only route of 128 households in My Phiem village, and a worrying atmosphere covered the villages.

In Quang Dai village (Vu Gia commune), the situation is even more dangerous. The rushing water of the Quang Hue River has dug about 150m of embankment, creating deep "frog hole", hanging on the residential road and the bridge abutment above. With just one more heavy rain, the entire road could collapse at any time.
This serious landslide not only threatens the safety of 35 local households, but also risks "swallowing" 6 hectares of agricultural land, which is the only livelihood of many families.
"The whole family doesn't dare sleep during the rainy and windy nights"
Living in a " weight hanging on hair", the people here could not hide their fatigue and confusion.
Comparing to us on the riverbank of landslides, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, in Khuong My village, said: "All our assets are this house, now the landslide has come close to the yard. Every few rainy and windy nights, the whole family did not dare to sleep, every time they heard the noise, they were startled, afraid that the ground would collapse. We just hope the government will soon take measures to help the people, because living like this is so miserable".
Mr. Tran Van Bay, in My Phiem village, pointed to the cut DX3 road, his face was uneasy, saying: "This is the only road for 128 of our households. Now it has landslides like this, children go to school, adults go to work and have to follow the edge of the fields, which is very dangerous. If we only worry about more serious landslides, there will be no way to transport the agricultural products to sell, and people will be truly isolated."

Faced with the urgent situation, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City has declared an emergency situation due to serious landslides on the Vu Gia - Quang River, requesting immediate implementation of temporary handling measures, placing warning signs, and setting up ropes to blockade vulnerable areas.
Local leaders and the Vu Gia Commune Civil Defense Command urgently implement emergency plans to prevent landslides from spreading, protect people's lives and property and essential infrastructure works, and minimize damage caused by natural disasters.
