Recently, heavy rain has caused landslides in many locations on DT 258 route from Phu Thong to the northern communes (in the old Pac Nam district, Bac Kan). A large amount of rock and soil spilled onto the road, endangering vehicles, especially when traveling at night.
According to PV in early November 2025, on route DT 258, there were dozens of large and small landslides. This is a route with a large volume of traffic, especially heavy trucks.
On the route, some locations of rocks and soil are more than half of the road surface. The narrow roadway and many curves cause traffic insecurity.

At some landslide locations, the authorities are leveling and moving rocks and soil. barriers and signs are installed to ensure safety.
Regularly passing through this road, Ms. Nguyen Thi Khoat (Thuong Minh commune) said that people are very worried every time they pass through this road. Frequent landslides pose a danger to vehicles.
"Every time you go a short distance, you can see landslides. The mountain pass is winding, the landslides are more than half the road surface, so it is very scary. At night when there is a slippery road, traffic accidents are very likely to occur.
The most miserable thing is the people who are unfamiliar with the road, landslides blocking all the way, if not paying attention will be very dangerous. Hopefully, the authorities will soon have a final solution to ensure safety," said Ms. Khoat.
Also on DT 258 road, at Km14+600, at the beginning of Tru bridge (Thuong Minh commune), a landslide caused traffic disruption. This location has been eroded since the beginning of October 2025.
Thousands of cubic meters of rock and soil caused traffic disruption. Up to now, the authorities are still leveling and moving the soil and rocks to clear the route.
Meanwhile, vehicles are forced to round up DT 258 (old) road and return to the main road axis at Km14+810 to continue moving.
On November 4, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Pham Le Nguyen - Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuong Minh Commune said that at the landslide location at Km14+600 of DT 258, the authorities under the Department of Construction are continuing to repair and handle the landslide.
"It is expected to be completed in about 10 or 15 days. The volume of landslides is large, and the weather is also difficult to overcome.
At some other landslides in the area, the locality has also proceeded to handle them. At the same time, there are recommendations and warning signs to ensure the safety of vehicles," the leader added.
