On November 8, Mr. Pham Xuan Quang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Mang Ri commune - said that the large landslide and explosion occurred at around 10:00 a.m. the same day.
At the scene, the hill was broken into large pieces, hundreds of cubic meters of rock and soil blocking the road, causing traffic congestion. Fortunately, at the time of the landslide, there were no people traveling around.

It is known that the landslide occurred on the road leading to Tu Tho Community Tourism Village (Mang Ri Commune) - where the Xor Dang people mainly live.
"There is currently another road leading to the village, so the landslide does not affect trade, medicine and food supply for people. Tomorrow, the commune will mobilize excavators to clean up and handle landslides, and at the same time warn of dangerous areas for people to be vigilant," said Mr. Quang.

At noon on November 8, the Earthquake and Song Warning Newspaper Center (Institute of Earth Sciences, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) issued a notice of an earthquake.
Accordingly, at 9:47 am to 54 seconds (Hanoi time), a 4.0 Richter earthquake occurred at the location at coordinates 14.929° North latitude, 108.139° East longitude, with a focal depth of about 8.1 km. The earthquake occurred in Mang Ri commune, Quang Ngai province. Natural disaster risk level: level 0.
Currently, it is not clear whether the cause of the mountain explosion in clear, dry weather was related to the earthquake in the mountainous areas of Quang Ngai.
