This morning (November 8), speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Le Van Luong - Director of Quang Ngai Maritime Port Authority - said that the unit received information from Mr. Hoang Phu Xuyen, captain of the Hai Nam 39 ship (Vietnam nationality), when the ship was traveling from Vinh Tan Port to Son Duong Port (Ha Tinh) to return goods.

At 8:44 a.m. on November 8, when the ship passed through Tam Quan sea (Binh Dinh), at coordinates 14°28'08"N, 109°19'29"E, the crew picked up Mr. Phan Duy Quang (born in 1978, residing in Ly Son special zone) floating at sea. At the time of his rescue, Mr. Quang's health was weak but had gradually stabilized. So out of 3 missing people, 2 people have been found.

As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, at around 3:00 p.m. on November 6, Mr. D.Q.C (44 years old, residing in Tay An Vinh village) went to the Ly Son port area to jump into the sea due to family conflicts.

Seeing that, Mr. Le Van Sanh (37 years old, residing in Tay An Hai village) and Mr. Phan Duy Quang (47 years old, residing in Tay An Vinh village) used a basket to rescue him. However, due to strong waves and strong winds, all 3 people were swept away far away and could not return to shore.

After receiving the report, the authorities mobilized the Thanh Tam ship (number VT0035), captained by Mr. Dang Van Thanh (53 years old), to organize the search. At 5:50 p.m., due to bad weather conditions, the search was forced to be temporarily suspended, the Thanh Tam ship returned to Ben Dinh port to anchor.

After that, the Border Guard Command of Quang Ngai province dispatched the BP 09-19-01 rescue boat and 10 officers and soldiers to coordinate with 2 vehicles of the Ly Son special forces to search for missing people in the southwestern sea of Ly Son island, then expand to neighboring seas but still could not find 3 victims.

The flight team set up a search box around the location of the missing victims and dropped relief goods including food and medicine to the residential area in Ly Son special area.
