Long An voters reported that the light bulbs on the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway (section through Nhi Thanh Commune, Thu Thua District) are not burning or are dim... which can easily cause traffic accidents when traveling on this route.
Voters recommend that the Ministry of Transport review and replace the light bulbs on this road section.
Voters also recommended considering opening a median strip and installing traffic lights at the intersection of National Highway 1A and Provincial Road 835B, to facilitate people's travel and trade.
Responding to this issue, the Ministry of Transport said that in recent years, the Ministry of Transport has directed the highway management and maintenance unit to regularly inspect and arrange periodic repair works to overcome shortcomings in the lighting system on the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong highway, details as follows:
In 2023, implemented 1 portfolio with a budget of about 5 billion VND, completed in December 2023.
2024: Implement 1 portfolio with a budget of about 8 billion VND, completed in August 2024.
In 2025, the unit plans a portfolio with a budget of 9 billion VND.
"Thus, after completing the projects to repair the damaged lighting system, it will basically meet the lighting needs on the highway," the Ministry of Transport affirmed.
Regarding the proposal to open the median strip and arrange traffic lights, the Ministry of Transport informed that the location where voters proposed to open the median strip on National Highway 1 at Km1927+100 is the intersection with Provincial Road 853B.
Current status of adjacent median strip opening points, about 160m away in the direction of Ho Chi Minh City (intersection with Bo Kenh Street), about 600m away in the direction of Tien Giang (intersection with Provincial Road 835).
Thus, within a 1000 m radius, there are 02 points where the median strip has been opened. To ensure safety and prevent traffic congestion at intersections, during the investment phase of the National Highway 1 upgrading and renovation project, no median strip opening point was designed at the intersection of Provincial Road 835B, only the 2 above mentioned median strip locations were opened.
To ensure convenience and safety for vehicles traveling from the intersection of Provincial Road 835B to and from National Highway 1, the Ministry of Transport requests the People's Committee of Long An province to direct the Department of Transport of Long An to study and build a deceleration and acceleration road, separating lanes according to standards to connect from Provincial Road 835B to National Highway 1.
