On the afternoon of September 17, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT, Ministry of Public Security) organized a meeting with people with influence in cyberspace (KOLs) and administrators of pages and groups on social networks to enhance information and propaganda to ensure traffic order and safety.
Major General Do Thanh Binh - Director of the Traffic Police Department said that traffic is a "hot" field related to a large number of people both in practice and in cyberspace.
The meeting aimed to exchange information and listen to multi-dimensional opinions from page administrators and groups on social networks on the field of ensuring traffic order and safety, thereby contributing to raising awareness of traffic participants, minimizing accidents and inadequacies in road traffic organization.
An administrator of the Otofun forum shared that in recent days, the authorities have piloted lane division, banned trucks from moving in lane 1 (attacking the median strip) and painted information about speed and lanes on the two expressways Phap Van - Cau Gie and Hanoi - Hai Phong, which has been supported by many members of the forum.
This person quoted the opinions of many members suggesting that the Traffic Police Department should expand the pilot program, studying the increase of minimum speed on highways after reserving lane 1 for vehicles to pass.
Some other administrators also proposed studying the possibility of traffic violators paying fines online, limiting them from traveling long distances to pay fines; studying traffic reorganization on routes with straight lines, preventing vehicles from recklessly overtaking other vehicles' lanes.
With the above proposals, Major General Do Thanh Binh said that the Traffic Police Department will propose that on routes with two lanes, one lane will be reserved for overtaking. For the route with three lanes, trucks will travel in the right lane, passenger cars with 30 seats will travel in the middle lane, passenger cars with less than 30 seats and cars will overtake and travel in the lane near the median strip.
On urban roads, it will be proposed to pilot the reduction of car lanes from 3.4 - 3.5m so that cars are forced to follow the goods, reserving a separate lane on the right side for motorbikes to circulate, avoiding the situation where vehicles "fill in the empty space".
Through meetings with administrators of social networking fanpages on traffic safety with many followers and comments, the Traffic Police Department hopes to continue to receive shares and contributions to have solutions to raise awareness of traffic participants.
