An Giang - The province has allocated the remaining construction stone source to ensure supply for the project in July 2026, in order to complete the project on schedule.

On July 8, at the periodic press briefing, the Department of Construction of An Giang province informed about the slow progress of the Ho Chi Minh road project through An Giang.

This project is invested in construction according to the Prime Minister's approval Decision, project implementation time is 2022 - 2025. The project is adjusted by the National Assembly for implementation time 2022 - 2026.

Reasons for delays include: Regarding site clearance work, 100% site clearance has been completed (March 2026). However, site clearance work is still slow compared to requirements with the reason that many households do not have the awareness to comply and hand over land, have to mobilize dialogue many times, and even have to protect construction in March 2026 to complete site clearance work.

Difficulties in the source of construction materials, initial difficulties in gathering sand for the project. Currently, difficulties in the source of stone for the project, so far there is a shortage of about 150,000 m3 of stone of all kinds. The current reason is that projects serving the APEC 2027 Summit and public investment projects in the province are being implemented simultaneously.

Due to factors affecting the project progress mentioned above, the Government has submitted to the National Assembly and has been approved on adjusting the project completion time.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Lan, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of An Giang province, to speed up the progress, the locality and related units have had very specific solutions. Regarding the source of construction materials, currently, An Giang province has allocated the remaining source of construction stone to ensure supply for the project in July 2026, in order to complete the project on schedule.

The project investor (Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board) has implemented technical solutions to adjust to shorten the construction progress for areas affected by slow site handover.

Regarding site clearance work, it will continue to direct and coordinate with the Investor in protecting the construction site and preventing re-encroachment to ensure the construction process.

The Ho Chi Minh Road project through An Giang and Ca Mau provinces has a total length of 51.94 km, started on March 6, 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2026. In which, the project passes through Kien Giang province (now An Giang province) 45.3 km; Bac Lieu province (now Ca Mau province) 6.67 km. The project is invested by the Ho Chi Minh Project Management Board.
