On March 30, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nay Phi La - Director of Dak Lak Department of Health said that the unit had received information about the case of 61 people suspected of food poisoning after eating bread in Ea Drang commune.
This is a serious case related to food safety and hygiene. The health sector is closely monitoring and waiting for the test results of the specimens, and at the same time requesting specialized units to inspect and handle related business establishments if violations are detected.
The incident is a warning bell that it is necessary to tighten food safety inspection. There have been no cases that endanger life," Mr. Nay Phi La said.
Patients were hospitalized with symptoms of abdominal pain and diarrhea after eating bread at Q.H store (Ea Drang commune). To date, 4 people have been discharged from the hospital, 6 people have been transferred, and 51 people are being treated at Ea H'leo Medical Center.
Immediately after recording the incident, Ea H'leo Medical Center reported to the Department of Health for coordination in handling. Functional agencies took specimens and food samples at the store for testing and determining the cause.
Ea Drang Commune People's Committee has conducted actual inspections and requested the establishment to temporarily suspend business operations until there are test results for handling according to regulations.
Previously, at about 4 pm on March 28, Ea H'leo Medical Center received the first suspected poisoning case with symptoms of abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting.
After that, dozens of other cases were hospitalized with similar symptoms; initially recorded 32 cases, all said they had eaten bread at Q.H store before the incident occurred.
