Hai Phong - Tien Lang District (Hai Phong) is constructing more than 8,000 meters of D400 pipes, bringing clean water to people in the district.

Continually handling dirty water business establishments

According to the report of Tien Lang District People's Committee, the whole district has 40,226/48,139 households using tap water, reaching 83.5%, the rest are households that do not use tap water. Through inspection, the whole district has only 2 water plants operating well, 5 plants have stopped operating, the remaining 13 water plants have poor quality. The quality of finished water from many mini water plants is not guaranteed, has a salty taste, bad smell, is cloudy, the amount of chlorine is not guaranteed, the water pressure is low, so local people have reflected and made many recommendations.

The most troubling issue is the water from Hung Dao Clean Water Development Joint Stock Company. The test results in July 2023 showed that 3 water samples from Hung Dao Company all had 2 residual chlorine and turbidity indices that did not meet the standards. For many years, this company has been complained by people in Tien Thanh and Quyet Tien communes about the continuous contamination and turbidity of domestic water.

Recently, Tay Hung Clean Water Company Limited was also reported by the people about the water not meeting the standards. On August 23, 2024, Tien Lang District Health Center organized an external inspection of the clean water quality of Tay Hung water plant. According to the inspection results, all 3 test samples had indicators that did not meet the standards.

Tien Lang District People's Committee has decided to impose an administrative fine of VND15 million on both units for providing water for domestic use that does not meet technical standards on the quality of clean water for domestic use. Tien Lang District also said that it will continue to impose fines on companies and water plants that provide water that does not meet quality standards.

Quickly bring clean water to the village

Along with punishing units supplying water that do not meet standards for people, implementing the direction of the Chairman of the City People's Committee, Tien Lang district propagates and mobilizes owners of mini water plants in the area to transfer water supply areas to water supply units with sufficient capacity, ensuring water supply according to regulations for people. Up to now, most units have agreed, except for Hung Dao Clean Water Development Joint Stock Company.

Tien Lang District People's Committee coordinated with Hai Phong Water Supply Joint Stock Company to start the project of constructing D400 pipeline supplying water to the western area of Tien Lang district with a total length of 8,454 m to supply water from Cau Nguyet water plant to Tien Lang district.

The project includes 2 items: Construction of water supply pipeline D400 on TL.354 road from Minh Duc bridge to Doan Lap intersection and Construction of water supply pipeline D400 on HL.25 road from Tien Lang town to Khoi Nghia water plant, in which pipeline D400 on TL.354 road from Minh Duc bridge to Doan Lap intersection has a length of 4,404 m; pipeline D400 on HL.25 road from Tien Lang town to Khoi Nghia water plant has a length of 4,050 m.

"Construction units are actively coordinating with relevant agencies, units and localities to complete the installation of the D400 pipeline before December 31, 2024. This is an important premise for providing clean water according to standards to serve people in the district" - said a representative of the Tien Lang District People's Committee.
