On July 4, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper at the section of the Red River flowing through Lao Cai Ward, unlike the dry scene that existed many months ago, the river water level here has risen.
The Red River water rose rapidly after prolonged heavy rains that submerged some coastal alluvial plains.

In the Phu Thinh bridge area, the river water rose on both sides of the bridge foot, where the embankment system is under construction.
Through observation, next to alluvial areas and reed areas, some people are making a living by fishing.

Ms. Nguyen Hong Van (Lao Cai ward) shared: "In the past few days, the water level of the Red River has risen and flowed very strongly. A series of alluvial plains along the river have been flooded because water flows in from upstream. After many months of drought, this area is now flooded again. But we also hope that the river water will not rise too high because it may cause flooding like last September.
According to information from the Lao Cai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain in the locality, combined with heavy rain in the Chinese basin, floods from upstream caused high floods on the Red River, the section flowing through Lao Cai Ward.

According to monitoring data from Lao Cai Hydrological Station, from the evening of July 1, the flood rose rapidly, and by 3:00 a.m. on July 2, the flood peaked and was at 80.86m. The flood amplitude is 3.55m; the elevation above alert level 1 is 0.55m.
Rising floodwaters swept away the buried sand and soil, deeply flooding many areas of crops and green vegetables of all kinds of people cultivating along both sides of the low-lying areas along the river.
Immediately after receiving news of a major flood, authorities at all levels where the Red River flows through urgently directed people living along the river to have a flood avoidance plan.

Closely monitor the flood situation on the river, be ready to move people and property to a safe place when the water continues to rise; On-site rescue forces are currently helping people in flooded areas overcome the consequences.
It is known that this is the biggest flood to appear on the Red River in Lao Cai ward since the beginning of the rainy season.
According to the Lao Cai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, in the coming days, areas in the province will continue to have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places having heavy rain.
Rainfall is generally from 10-30mm/24 hours in areas, with some places having over 60mm/24 hours.
Localized heavy rain can cause flooding, flash floods, and landslides in steep terrain, with positive and negative slopes on all roads.
