Color change water incident in Quang Tri: Water supply unit talks about support plans

THANH TRUNG |

Quang Tri - After the incident of cloudy yellow water affecting more than 10,000 households, the water supply unit is considering a plan to support customers.

On June 4, Mr. Nguyen Hao Quang - Director of Biwase Quang Binh Joint Stock Company, a clean water supplier in Ba Don wards and communes in the North of Quang Tri province, said that the enterprise is considering a support plan for customers affected by the color change incident that occurred at the end of May.

According to Mr. Quang, the unit is currently supplying water to nearly 21,000 customers in the area. After the incident is resolved, the business will coordinate with relevant customers to assess the level of impact of each customer in order to have appropriate forms of support or reduce water costs.

We will soon inform affected customers to ensure harmony of interests between water users and water suppliers," Mr. Quang said.

As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, on May 31, many households in Ba Don ward and neighboring areas reflected that domestic water is abnormally dark brown and cloudy yellow. This situation greatly affects people's daily lives, especially their eating and hygiene needs.

Through inspection, the cause was determined to be a crack in the weld on the water transmission pipeline, causing dirt from outside to enter the water supply system.

Immediately after detecting the incident, Biwase Quang Binh Joint Stock Company mobilized manpower to urgently repair the damaged location, and at the same time carried out a thorough cleaning of the entire pipeline system to remove impurities and restore water quality.

By the afternoon of June 2, the incident had been completely resolved, and clean water was restored to normal supply to customers in affected areas.

Currently, the unit continues to review the entire pipeline network, especially at key locations, while strengthening maintenance, monitoring water quality and receiving feedback from people to ensure that clean water is supplied stably and safely in the coming time.
