On the morning of January 2, speaking to Lao Dong, Mr. Nhu Van Phuong - Secretary of the Party Committee of Ke Sat town (Binh Giang district, Hai Duong province) - where the accident occurred - said that the car crashed into the funeral tent set up on the road, injuring 6 people. Up to now, the health of the 6 victims is stable, with no serious problems.
Mr. Phuong added: "Following the direction of the People's Committee of Binh Giang district and the People's Committee of Hai Duong province, we invited theater owners in Ke Sat town to have a meeting to thoroughly understand the issue of not setting up theaters on the road. They have committed to not setting up theaters on the road, causing traffic obstruction.
However, in the coming time, we will continue to manage, grasp and strictly handle the arbitrary setting up of tents to serve funerals and weddings of households on the street, on the entire sidewalk."
Previously, at around 2:00 p.m. on December 31, 2024, at Km 0+200 of Provincial Road 392, Zone 1, Ke Sat Town, a traffic accident occurred between a car with license plate 34A-707.56 driven by Mr. V.D.H (born in 1972, residing in Cay Village, Long Xuyen Commune, Binh Giang District) in the direction from Phu to Ke Sat, crashing into the funeral theater of Mr. D.V.T (born in 1967, residing in Zone 1, Ke Sat Town, Binh Giang District).
The theater was set up on the road in front of the house. Initial investigation determined that the driver's lack of observation led to the crash. It is known that Mr. V.D.H is the Chief Inspector of Binh Giang District.
After causing the accident, Mr. H went to the district police station to report himself. Test results showed that Mr. H had alcohol in his breath.
After the accident, the Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee directed relevant departments, branches and Binh Giang District People's Committee to urgently investigate and strictly handle the case of a car crashing into a funeral theater.
Binh Giang District People's Committee must clarify and consider the responsibility of organizations and individuals for allowing people to set up funeral tents on the street.
