According to the announcement from Phu Tho Provincial Police on the morning of May 25, due to the rainy weather, high water levels, and high flow speeds, to ensure safety, the Phong Chau pontoon bridge operator will cut the pontoon bridge from 5am the same day until further notice.
Phong Chau pontoon bridge is installed and anchored to serve people's travel in conditions of flow speed from 2.2 m/s or less. When the flow rate exceeds the above figure, the authorities will temporarily suspend the pontoon bridge to ensure safety.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting's Short-term Hydro-Meteorological Forecast and Warning bulletin No. 144 dated May 24, the water level on the Red River in Yen Bai will decrease, and in Phu Tho it will continue to rise.
The actual water level measured on the Red River at Phu Tho station (Phong Chau bridge in the downstream) at 1:00 p.m. on May 23 was 11.81 m, by 7:00 a.m. on May 24 was 12.19 m, and it is forecasted that by 7:00 a.m. on May 25, the water level will be about 13 m.
