On the morning of June 11, Phu Tho Provincial Police announced that due to the rainy weather, high water levels, and high flow speeds, to ensure safety, Phong Chau pontoon bridge operators will cut the pontoon bridge until further notice. Vehicles should pay attention to choosing a travel route.
According to records, the water level in the Red River section passing through the Phong Chau pontoon bridge area (Phung Nguyen commune, Lam Thao district) rose and flowed rapidly. The floodwaters of the river are muddy, carrying a lot of mud, trees, and waste.
With Phong Chau pontoon bridge, the project is anchored to serve the travel of people in conditions with a flow rate of less than 2.2 m/s. When the flow rate exceeds the above threshold, the pontoon bridge operator will temporarily suspend operations to ensure safety.
According to data from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the actual water level of the Thao River (Red River) measured at Phu Tho station from 7:00 p.m. on June 9 to present is always over 13 m.
