After Lao Dong Newspaper reflected the situation of slow handover of land for the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh Expressway Project, on the morning of September 5, Tan Khanh Ward People's Committee organized the handover of a 1.6km long model section to the investor and construction unit, out of a total of 3.64km assigned to the task.
At the working session, representatives of Tan Khanh Ward People's Committee, the investor, the Project Management Board and the construction unit signed the minutes, officially handing over the boundary markers and construction site for the section from Km8+266 to Km9+970, involving 65 households and individuals.
According to Tan Khanh Ward People's Committee, the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway project section passing through the old Binh Duong area is about 45.7km long. Of which the section passing through Tan Khanh ward is 3.64km long, affecting 228 cases, including 225 households and 3 organizations, with an expected recovered area of about 23.8ha.
By the end of August, the compensation plan had been approved for 227 cases, with a total amount of about 1,047.9 billion VND. Of which, 188 cases had been paid about 878.5 billion VND, and 39 cases continued to be paid.
Before the handover of the sample section, the report of Tan Khanh Ward People's Committee showed that the locality had handed over about 141,563m2; there were still about 96,461m2 related to 73 households and 1 additional case that had not handed over the site.
Notably, the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway is identified as a key national transport project, of particular importance in socio-economic development, strengthening regional connectivity and completing transport infrastructure.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested localities to focus all resources and complete the handover of clean ground to serve project construction before September 2, 2026; not to let subjective causes from localities affect the overall progress of the project and the City's commitment to the Government and the Prime Minister.
Thus, Tan Khanh ward's handover of the 1.6km sample section was carried out after the deadline requested by the City. Regarding the remaining kilometers owed, the Ward People's Committee said that in the coming time it will continue to coordinate with the investor and related units to accelerate site clearance, hand over to the investor, and create conditions for project implementation.
