According to the announcement of the Railway industry, from August 21 to September 2, 2025, to meet the increased travel demand and coordinate with the plan to organize celebration activities of Hanoi City, the Vietnam Railway industry will increase 51 trains on key routes, while adjusting the schedule and departure times of some trains in the Hanoi area.
According to the announcement, as of August 21, 2025, more than 70,000 train tickets have been sold, reaching a rate of 41% over the same period in 2024. To meet the increased travel demand, in addition to regular daily trains, the Railway industry will organize the running of 51 more trains on routes with high demand.
The North - South route regularly runs 6 pairs of trains. United SE1/2, SE3/4, SE7/6, SE7/8, SE9/10, SE11/12; the Hanoi - Da Nang route outside the SE19/20 train regularly runs, increasing 2 trains SE17 (August 29.9) and SE18 (September 1.9); the Hanoi - Vinh route outside the NA1/2 train regularly runs, increasing 5 trains: NA3 (September 29, 30), NA4 (August 31, September 1) and NA8 (September 2).
In addition, the Hanoi - Thanh Hoa route will increase 8 trips with TH1/TH2 trains running on August 30, August 31, September 1 and 2.9; the Hanoi - Dong Hoi route will increase 2 trips: QB1 train (August 29) and QB2 train (September 1); the Hanoi - Hai Phong route, in addition to 4 pairs of regular trains, is expected to run 4 more trains; the Saigon - Quy Nhon route will increase a total of 12 trips, including: SE30 train (from August 28 to September 1), SE29 train (from August 29 to September 29), SQN2 train (August 29) and SQN1 train (September 2); Saigon - Nha Trang route will increase 9 trips, including: SNT4 train (September 30), SNT6, SNT8, SNT8 train (October 29, September 3-9) and PNT3 train (September 30).
The routes Hanoi - Lao Cai (SP3/4, SP7/8), Hue - Da Nang (HD1/2, HD3/4), Saigon - Da Nang (SE21/22) are still operating regularly to serve passengers. The Railway industry will also set up 2 separate trains to transport about 1,200 soldiers from Hanoi to Tam Ky and Saigon on September 3, 2025 after completing their mission at the parade.
The Railway industry will also adjust the schedule of some train routes in Hanoi to serve activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day. Hanoi will ban many routes from August 21 to September 2, 2025, therefore, the Railway industry will adjust the starting and ending points of some trains as follows:
The Hanoi - Hai Phong route runs LP8/LP7 train on September 21, 24, 27, 29 and September 1, 2025, ending and departing at Long Bien station; HP2 train on September 21, 24, 27, 29 and September 1, 2025 ending at Long Bien station; LP5 train on August 21, 24, 27, 2025 starting at Long Bien station (15 h26); HP1 train on August 30, September 2 starting at Long Bien station (6 h10); LP2/3, LP5/6 trains on August 30 and September 2, 2025 ending and departing at Long Bien station.
The Hanoi - Lao Cai route runs the SP8/7 train on August 21, 24, 27, 29 and September 1, 2025, ending and departing at Gia Lam station; the SP3 train on September 21, 24, 27, 29, 8 and 1, 2025 departing from Gia Lam; the SP4 train departing from Lao Cai station on August 29 and September 1, 2025, ending at Gia Lam station the following day.
The Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route adds a plan to pick up/drop off passengers at Giap Bat for trains on the Southern route.
During the time Hanoi City has banned roads to serve activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day, traveling to Hanoi Railway Station may be difficult, the Railway industry recommends that passengers be present at the station at least 60 minutes before the train runs to ensure they do not miss the trip. Hanoi Station will open more gates to welcome guests at Gate No. 1 Tran Quy Cap to facilitate travel. Passengers need to proactively plan their travel to avoid areas with limited traffic, regularly monitoring information about routes and road closure times:
