On August 20, in Hanoi, the National Political Publishing House Truth in coordination with the Academy of Journalism and Propaganda organized the National Scientific Conference "Innovation in propaganda and dissemination of political theory in cyberspace".

Speaking to host the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Trong Lam, Director - Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House Truth - said that along with the national digital transformation process, propaganda and training sectors, press and publishing agencies, training and research institutions have promoted the application of digital technology in propaganda activities, expanded the scope of information, diversified transmission forms and improved interaction with the public.
Theoretical and political publishing activities, policy communication, legal dissemination and struggle to refute wrong and hostile views in cyberspace are deployed in many rich forms.
However, according to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Trong Lam, propaganda and dissemination of political theory in cyberspace are facing new requirements. The digital media environment is changing rapidly in terms of technology, methods of information distribution; the development of generative artificial intelligence, big data and algorithm-based content proposing systems are transforming the media environment.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Truong Giang - Deputy Director of the Academy of Journalism and Propaganda, if previously attracting a large number of public at the same time mainly took place on mass media, now cyberspace has become a strong competitive environment in terms of information, ideology, awareness and social discourse.
At the same time, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Truong Giang said that today, the public is not only a passive recipient but also becomes a subject in the process of receiving information, they can choose, comment, refute, verify, share, even directly produce and spread information... Therefore, the requirement is to innovate propaganda and disseminate political theory in cyberspace in the context of digital transformation that requires new thinking.
Speaking at the conference summary, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Minh Son - Director of the Academy of Journalism and Propaganda - stated clearly that the presentations and exchanged opinions have clarified the inevitability of innovating propaganda and political theory in cyberspace; analyzing the opportunities and challenges in cyberspace.
Some presentations emphasized the requirement to promote the "people's heart formation" on a technology platform; establish enforcement discipline, build a healthy and modern communication ecosystem; develop a team of officials and experts with firm political bravery, proficient in digital technology and artificial intelligence. In particular, it is necessary to shift from defensive thinking to proactive offensive in the face of the rapid development of social networks and cross-border digital platforms.
