Rushing at the construction site to upgrade Ca Mau airport
The Ca Mau Airport Upgrade and Expansion Project has reached more than 60% of the volume. Contractors are mobilizing maximum manpower, machinery, and organizing continuous construction to complete the entire project by the end of October 2026.
The project to upgrade and expand Ca Mau Airport in Tan Thanh ward, Ca Mau province is invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), with a total capital of about 2,400 billion VND. Construction started on August 19, 2025.

To maintain progress, the Project Management Board and contractors mobilized about 500 engineers and workers, nearly 200 locomotives and specialized vehicles. The construction pace is maintained according to the motto "3 shifts, 4 crews", overnight to take advantage of time, proactively respond to rainy weather and material supply pressure.
At package No. 12, including construction and installation of runway equipment, taxiways, aircraft parking yards and auxiliary works, Brigade 470 (Truong Son Construction Corporation) arranged more than 200 workers and 120 equipment. Construction teams are simultaneously deploying crushed stone paving, concrete pavement, and drainage system construction.

At package No. 20, more than 170 workers and 50 mechanical equipment are mobilized. Mr. Pham Cong Danh - Deputy Commander of Luu Nguyen Construction Joint Stock Company - said that the unit is focusing forces, ensuring technical requirements, striving to basically complete the assigned tasks in early September 2026.
Mr. Nguyen Le Tu - Project Management Director - said that all forces at the construction site are highly focused to meet the flight milestone of the flight zone equipment system in September 2026. The goal is to complete the entire project by the end of October, bringing Ca Mau Airport back into operation from November 1, 2020.
According to the plan, Ca Mau Airport will reach level 4C, operating Code C aircraft such as A320, A321 or equivalent. Design capacity reaches 1 million passengers/year, 1,000 tons of cargo/year. Vision to 2050, capacity will be increased to 3 million passengers/year.
The project is identified as a key transport infrastructure project, of great significance for socio-economic development, national defense and security, contributing to connecting the southernmost region with major centers across the country.
Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway accelerates on weak soil
After a year of construction, the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway is being accelerated by contractors despite facing many difficulties in weak soil foundation, construction materials and unfavorable weather.
At the Ca Mau - Cai Nuoc section construction site, many construction fronts are being deployed simultaneously with the tasks of treating weak soil foundations, filling road foundations, and constructing bridges and culverts. The route section is about 36km long, including 32 bridges, including 25 main bridges and 7 branch bridges. Up to now, the implementation progress has reached more than 12% of the contract value.

On the entire Ca Mau - Dat Mui route, component projects are also being accelerated. At locations where large river overpasses are being built, many important structures have gradually formed.
However, the scarcity of construction materials and heavy rain are adding obstacles to construction work. Contractors have to arrange hundreds of personnel and organize many construction teams to closely monitor progress.

The Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway is more than 80km long, with a scale of 4 lanes, total investment of nearly 59,000 billion VND, expected to be completed by the end of 2028. The project is expected to shorten the connection time from Ca Mau to Dat Mui, and at the same time expand the socio-economic development space of the southernmost region, creating momentum to connect with important projects and works on Hon Khoai island.
