On the evening of October 6, speaking with Lao Dong, the leader of the People's Committee of De Gi commune (Gia Lai) - said that the body of Mr. Nguyen Tran Ut (born in 1976, residing in De Gi commune), owner and captain of fishing boat BD 83019 TS that was sunk by a foreign ship in the waters of Khanh Hoa, was found at a depth of about 60m this afternoon and was on his way home for funeral arrangements.
"Tonight, Mr. Ut's body will be taken to the locality for burial. The locality will send officials to support, visit and encourage the family to soon overcome the pain of loss. As for the 10 lucky crew members who were rescued, their relatives have also gone to Khanh Hoa to take them home," said the leader of the People's Committee of De Gi commune.
As Lao Dong reported, at around 10:30 p.m. on October 4, while operating 17 nautical miles southeast of Ca Na estuary (Ninh Thuan), Mr. Ut's fishing boat was hit by a Korean-South-North oil tanker.
After the strong collision, fishing boat BD 83019 TS sent a distress signal. Ship BV 95869 TS promptly approached and rescued 10 crew members, while captain Ut was missing and the ship completely sank.
Regarding the incident, the Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee has directed the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense to direct the Cat Khanh Border Guard Station to contact fishing vessels near the area to grasp information and request support for search and rescue.
At the same time, he directed the De Gi Border Guard Station to contact the Ca Na Border Guard Station and the Khanh Hoa Provincial Border Guard Command to support the search and rescue.
Request the Maritime Search and Rescue Center of Region IV, Navy Region 4, Coast Guard and other forces to participate in coordinating the search and rescue.
