Cargo ship with a tonnage of nearly 3,000 tons stranded at Cua Viet port

Quang Tri - A cargo ship with a tonnage of nearly 3,000 tons on its way from China to Vietnam ran aground in the Cua Viet port area.

At noon on January 24, the Cua Viet Port Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Border Guard) confirmed that a large tonnage cargo ship was encountering an incident of stranding in the Cua Viet port area.

Accordingly, at 6:30 am on January 23, ship Thanh Thanh Dat 45 (full tonnage 2,947 tons; length 79.6 m; width 12.8 m) captained by Mr. Luong Van Hung (born 1978, permanent residence in Thanh Hoa), was traveling from Yangpu Port (China) to Cua Viet port (Quang Tri province) to carry out procedures to receive goods when it encountered an incident.

When arriving at the port entrance area, the ship suddenly ran aground at a location about 700 m from the shore, about 550 m north of the Cua Viet embankment (coordinates 16.54’48N - 107.11’50E). At the time of the incident, there were 11 crew members on board, and they have now been brought ashore safely.

According to the plan, when weather conditions are favorable, the ship will be towed to Cua Viet port for inspection and repair according to regulations.
