On October 21, Lieutenant Colonel Dang Van Long - Deputy Head of Nhat Le Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command) said that the unit is coordinating with local authorities and people to bury a pig that drifted on Nhat Le beach.
Earlier, on the same morning, people discovered a carcass of pork (commonly known as "Ong fish") about 2m long, weighing about 150kg drifting ashore in Dong Thuan ward, Quang Tri province.
Immediately after receiving the report, Nhat Le Border Guard Station sent officers and soldiers to coordinate with the authorities and people to the scene to check and handle the situation.
Because the pig had died and was in the process of decomposing, the authorities and local people held a burial ceremony according to the traditional beliefs of coastal fishermen, and at the same time, detoxified and disinfected the area to ensure environmental hygiene.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Dang Van Long, the burial was carried out carefully, showing respect for the fish that fishermen consider a protective mascot and bring good luck at sea.
