On February 28th, Dong Ha Ward Police confirmed that they had coordinated with the Economic - Infrastructure Department of Dong Ha Ward People's Committee to receive 1 pangolin individual (dredged) voluntarily handed over by Mr. Pham Xuan Hoan (born in 1996, residing in Quarter 6, Dong Ha Ward).
According to Mr. Hoan, at about 3 pm on February 27, when walking on Dien Bien Phu street, passing through Quarter 3, Dong Ha ward, he discovered a pangolin on the road. Knowing that this is a species of animal on the list of endangered, precious, and rare animals prioritized for protection in Vietnam, he proactively brought it to Dong Ha Ward Police to hand it over.
After receiving it, functional forces will carry out handling steps according to regulations, and at the same time coordinate with specialized units to hand over and care for it to be released back into the natural environment when conditions are met.
Dong Ha Ward Police recommends that when people detect endangered and rare forest animals, they should promptly notify the nearest functional agency; absolutely do not hunt, farm, buy, sell, or transport illegally in any form.
