Mr. Nguyen Hoai Anh - Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has just issued a letter calling on agencies, units, organizations, businesses; people and soldiers inside and outside the province to participate in supporting the cost of analyzing DNA samples of martyrs' relatives, serving the identification of martyrs' remains with missing information in the province.
According to the letter of appeal, through the resistance wars to protect the Fatherland, tens of thousands of outstanding children of Thanh Hoa have bravely sacrificed. Currently, the whole province has 37,720 martyrs whose graves have not been determined. Many martyrs are still placed somewhere in the sky and have not returned to their families. Therefore, DNA testing to restore identity is an urgent task, with profound humanitarian significance.
Thanh Hoa province is one of the pioneering localities in collecting and updating information about martyrs' relatives to serve DNA analysis in the process of building a national gene bank. From July 3 to July 27, 2025, the whole province collected 36,845 samples, reaching 100% of martyrs' relatives.
The estimated cost of DNA testing and examination is about 82,901,250,000 VND. Recently, the Provincial Police have mobilized cadres, soldiers and organizations and individuals to donate 15,923,950,000 VND.
On behalf of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman Nguyen Hoai Anh called on collectives and individuals inside and outside the province to continue to join hands to contribute to soon complete the appraisal work and restore the identities of the heroic martyrs.
