From August 17 to now, many heavy rains have occurred in Thanh Hoa province. It is forecasted that from now until August 26, the province will continue to have moderate to heavy rain, with very heavy rain in some places.
According to quick reports from localities and units, as of 4:00 PM on August 24, there were 4 residential areas temporarily cut off due to the only road to the locally flooded area, with a total of 333 households and 1,377 people.
Van Du commune has 1 area with 10 households, 48 people; Ba Thuoc commune has 2 areas with 270 households, 1,073 people; Son Dien commune has 1 area with 34 households, 176 people and Xuan Chinh commune has 19 households with 80 people.
Heavy rain also caused more than 753 hectares of agricultural production area to be flooded. In Kim Tan commune, landslides occurred on the Dinh Hung embankment, belonging to the Thach Dinh dyke, with a length of about 50 m.
In addition, dozens of locations on National Highways 15, 15C, 16, 217 and some provincial roads experienced landslides of positive taluy, negative taluy, siltation and road surface.
Most landslide locations have been organized and cleared by road management units, ensuring smooth and safe traffic.
By the afternoon of August 24, there were still 4 traffic jam locations, including National Highway 16 at Km80+850; National Highway 217 at Km130; Provincial Road 530B at Km1+500 and Km19+300. Road management units have stretched ropes, planted warning signs, arranged machinery to urgently clear soil and rocks, ensuring traffic safety.
Also in the afternoon of August 24, Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee and related departments established many working groups to inspect disaster response and recovery efforts in localities.
