During the day, when the situation in some areas stabilized, some households returned home. By 4 pm, there were still 129 households with 619 people continuing to be evacuated.
Specifically, Trung Thanh commune has 48 households with 227 people; Nam Xuan commune 12 households with 48 people; Tan Thanh commune 1 household with 6 people; Ngoc Lac commune 3 households with 13 people; Yen Khuong commune 1 household with 6 people; Linh Son commune 10 households with 30 people; Tam Chung commune 10 households with 76 people.

In addition, Hien Kiet commune has 2 households with 8 people; Son Dien commune 34 households with 176 people; Ba Thuoc commune 6 households with 17 people; Muong Min commune 1 household with 6 people and Trung Ly commune 1 household with 6 people.
Localities are continuing to ensure food, drinking water and essential necessities for people in evacuated areas.
Prolonged heavy rain also caused flooding of 535.21ha of agricultural land in Thanh Hoa province, including nearly 320ha of rice, nearly 100ha of vegetables and more than 115ha of newly planted sugarcane.
The common rainfall in the province is 180-270mm, some points recorded rainfall over 300mm.
Heavy rain caused flooding at 6 points on inter-communal and inter-village roads. In which, one point in Kim Tan commune has a replacement road; 5 points in Hien Kiet commune are currently unable to be traveled by vehicles.
Localities with large areas of flooded agricultural land include Thach Binh, Kim Tan, Van Du, Tay Do, Thieu Toan communes and Ham Rong ward. In Dinh Tan commune, some households were also affected by flooding.
Currently, 10 households with 48 people in Van Du commune are isolated due to floodwaters. However, local authorities still maintain contact and provide sufficient necessities for people.
To drain water, 28 pumping stations with 85 pumps are operating; 34 flood discharge gates are opened to limit flooding in residential areas and production areas.
In Muong Ly commune, prolonged rain from the morning of August 22nd to noon of August 23rd caused landslides of the positive taluy on National Highway 16. Soil and rocks spilled onto the road surface, affecting traffic on the route.
Immediately after the landslide occurred, the locality mobilized forces to the scene to put up warning signs, divert traffic and guide people and vehicles to move in a safe direction.
In Muong Min commune, prolonged heavy rain also caused damage to houses, traffic and increased the risk of landslides and flooding in many residential areas.
Notably, in Ban Bon, a positive taluy landslide occurred, a large volume of soil and rocks from the mountainside spilled into the stilt house area of Mr. Pham Ba Sam's family, threatening the safety of 6 people in the family.
