On March 1, the Standing Committee of Hai Chau District Youth Union held a launching ceremony for Youth Month 2025 with many meaningful activities. Because, in addition to annual work and projects, each union member in Hai Chau district, Da Nang city is calling on each other to contribute 5,000 VND/month, supporting the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the locality.
Sharing about this, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - Secretary of Hai Chau District Youth Union - said that the above activity was launched by the Da Nang City Youth Union, calling on young people and union members from the whole city to contribute 5,000 VND/month, implemented for 8 months. That is, each person will contribute 40,000 VND to the program.
Hai Chau District has nearly 7,000 union members and aims to support a family to repair a house with a budget of 30 million VND. If the support source exceeds the plan, the unit will transfer it to the local Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to support other families.
In fact, this budget may not be as expected because union members and young people in Hai Chau district in particular and Da Nang city in general are mostly students. However, "a little bit of love is more", the amount of 5,000 VND/month that each person contributes shows the spirit of joining hands with the community to support the disadvantaged and following the call, young people should act, turning the spirit of initiative into meaningful projects, making a practical contribution to local development" - Mr. Phong shared.
In its plan, Hai Chau District Youth Union said it is mobilizing more businesses and benefactors to participate in the program to complete the goal. And, right at the launching ceremony, the unit presented a support project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses to union members in difficult circumstances worth 30 million VND, and called on union members and workers to participate in supporting right at the program.

Taken by her daughter to attend the ceremony and receive support from the Hai Chau District Youth Union, Ms. Le Thi Hanh (residing in Thuan Phuoc Ward, Hai Chau District) said that the family's 25m2 house was built more than 20 years ago. After her husband passed away, Ms. Hanh stayed at the fishing port for hire.
"My job is unstable, there are people hired to work in the dry season, and when the boat doesn't go to sea, I get unemployed. The children have just graduated, have not been able to work for long, and their income is not high, so the house with the rotted attic and peeling walls because of the makeshift construction over the years is still like that" - Ms. Hanh said.
Knowing that her family was supported to repair their house in the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, Ms. Hanh discussed with her children about borrowing more money to repair the house.
Hearing young people calling to receive a support board of 30 million VND to repair the house, I was so happy but I didnt dare to go on stage but let my daughter represent me to receive it. Thanks to this opportunity, I boldly thought about how to borrow more to repair the house. In a few years, the children will get married, and when they get married, they will have a place to celebrate" - the hard-working mother spoke and was moved, her eyes red when mentioning the house and the children.
Listening to that story, the young men of Hai Chau district held hands to encourage Ms. Hanh with the message of staying healthy, going to the table with their children to repair the house and then reporting to the locality and the District Youth Union to do the remaining procedures. So that, from this rainy season, that roof will be warmer because of the hearts of young people!
