On April 18, the Standing Committee of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee agreed on a plan to reorganize commune-level administrative units.
Accordingly, the whole province has 137 communes, wards and towns arranged to have 51 communes and wards, a reduction of 86 units.
Specifically, arrange 12 wards and 4 communes of Da Lat city with Lac Duong town and Lat commune (Lac Duong district) into 5 wards (a reduction of 13 units compared to before).
Arrange 6 wards and 5 communes of Bao Loc city with Loc Tan commune (Bao Lam district) into 4 wards (reducing 8 units). Arrange 3 communes of Lac Duong district into 1 commune-level administrative unit (reducing 2 units).
Arrange 2 towns and 7 communes of Don Duong district into 4 communes (reducing 5 units); arrange 1 town and 13 communes of Duc Trong district into 6 communes (reducing 8 units); arrange 2 towns and 14 communes of Lam Ha district with Binh Thanh commune of Duc Trong district into 6 communes (reducing 11 units).
Arranging 8 communes of Dam Rong district with Do K'Nu commune of Lac Duong district into 4 communes (down 5 units); arranging 1 town, 18 communes of Di Linh district into 7 communes (down 12 units); Arranging 1 town, 12 communes of Bao Lam district 5 communes (down 8 units); Arrange 5 towns and 18 communes of Da Huoai district into 9 communes (down 14 units).
Previously, on April 16, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee issued a plan to collect voters' opinions and representatives of households on the Project on the arrangement of provincial and commune-level administrative units in the area.
This is to serve the session of People's Councils at all levels on the arrangement of administrative units in the area; ensure publicity, democracy, and compliance with legal regulations.
According to Decision No. 759/QD-TTg dated April 14 signed by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh approving the Project to rearrange and reorganize administrative units at all levels and build a model of organizing local government at 2 levels, Dak Nong province, Binh Thuan province and Lam Dong province become a new province called Lam Dong.
The new Lam Dong province is expected to have the largest natural area in the country with 24,233 km2 and a population of 3,324,400 people.
The new administrative and political center of Lam Dong province is expected to be located in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province.
