On April 15, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh signed the Decision (No. 759/QD-TTg dated April 14, 2025) approving the Scheme on arranging and reorganizing administrative units at all levels and building a model of organization of local government 2 levels (projects).
Decision No. 759 offers a specific arrangement for provincial administrative units. In particular, the merger of Dak Nong province, Binh Thuan province and Lam Dong province is called Lam Dong province.
Accordingly, the new province will have the largest natural area in the country with 24,233km2, population size of 3,324,400 people.
The administrative and political center of Lam Dong province is located in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province today.
Earlier, at the 11th Central Conference of Session XIII on April 12, the Central Executive Committee highly unified guidelines on the organization of local governments of 2 levels including provincial levels (provinces and centrally -run cities) and commune levels (communes, wards and special zones directly under provincial and cities).
The central government also agreed on the number of provincial administrative units after the merger of 34 provinces and cities (28 provinces and 6 cities directly under the Central Government) with the name and administrative - political center determined according to the principles mentioned in the reports and projects.
According to Resolution No. 60 of the 11th Conference of the XIII Central Committee of the Party Central Committee, the forest to consolidate with Dak Nong and Binh Thuan province, expected to take the name of Lam Dong province, the political - administrative center located in Lam Dong province.
Also related to this, on April 14, Mr. Tran Hong Thai, Chairman of Lam Dong People's Committee signed a document to the departments, agencies and branches on the development of the project of arranging administrative units at the provincial level.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province assigned the provincial departments, agencies and branches to take the initiative in coordinating with the departments, agencies and branches of Binh Thuan province and Dak Nong province to organize the construction of the project to merge each department, department and branch of the three provinces.
