Vinh Nguon Border Guard Station (An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command) manages a border section of more than 14km long, including 6 main markers and 23 secondary markers, all in the plains. Every year, during the rainy and flood season, the Command of Vinh Nguon Border Guard Station mobilizes maximum means and equipment, and arranges appropriate forces to carry out the task of patrolling, controlling, and managing the border section under the management of the unit.
Regardless of day or night, they have to use a motorboat, traveling dozens of kilometers in erratic rain and sunshine conditions, along the border and border marker to check the current situation and promptly detect any abnormalities in the border. Grasp the situation of criminal activities and propagate and mobilize people to comply with regulations on business and crossing the border in the situation of major floods. All activities took place as usual, except for the group observing the border in the vastness of water.
During the flood season, people on both sides of the border went to the fields to set up big fish, spread fish, release nets, and catch a lot of fish and shrimp. In order for people on both sides not to violate sovereignty, not to affect the current status of the border, landmarks... the border guards have focused on propagating so that people are vigilant every time they go to the border, be vigilant against all subjects, proactively detect strangers, unusual signs of the border area to immediately report to the Border Guard station for timely handling.
"The border guards regularly patrol, visit, and propagate the law, so people are very assured when going to the fields to work. People on both sides of the border have been very harmonious for a long time, said Mr. Nguyen Van Bi - a resident of Chau Doc ward, An Giang province.
Launching movements to self-manage border areas and milestones
