On November 30, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper was present at the construction site for upgrading and repairing Ke Go lake in Cam Due commune, recording that contractors are mobilizing maximum human resources and machinery to focus on the construction of new floodgates, completing the bridge railing, and upgrading the main dam.
The project to upgrade and repair Ke Go lake with a total investment of more than 350 billion VND is constructed by a joint venture of 47 Joint Stock Company - Lilama 10 Joint Stock Company - 465 Construction Joint Stock Company.
The main items of the project include: repairing and upgrading the main dam; building a new floodgates; building a new operator house; upgrading the mechanical system at Doc Mieu spillway and surrounding dykes.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Hieu - an officer of the Irrigation Investment and Construction Management Board 1 - said that the Ke Go Lake upgrade and repair project started on December 27, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed in June 2026.
However, due to heavy rain in the past, the construction of contractors encountered difficulties, affecting the workload.
"The weather has been sunny and favorable these past few days, so contractors have focused on 3 shifts and 4 teams, speeding up the progress to compensate for the volume, determined to ensure the progress of the project," Mr. Hieu shared.
Currently, there are nearly 100 workers on the construction site every day along with 4 cranes, 8 trucks, 5 excavators, 2 bulldozers, and 2 mangrove machines.
Up to this point, the project has basically completed the construction of the new flood overflow overpass. The mechanical items on the Doc Mieu spillway have been completed; the mechanical part of the drainage culvert has also been completed.
According to Mr. Hieu, on the night of November 29, the contractor organized the construction until 2:00 a.m. the next morning and poured the first 260m3 of concrete in the upstream left wing foundation of the new flood spillway.

Currently, the highest concentration is on the concrete pouring and completion of the foundation hole of the flood discharge spillway.
Mr. Hieu also shared that the current concern is that the project is still stuck with 2 electric poles that have not been relocated.
The investor's representative worked with the People's Committee of Cam Due commune, requesting the urgent relocation of these two electric poles to ensure construction, but the relocation time is still unclear.
Ke Go reservoir was built in 1976, with a capacity of 345 million m3, the most important irrigation project in Ha Tinh. Ke Go Lake not only serves the irrigation of tens of thousands of hectares of agricultural land but also has the task of cutting and reducing floods for downstream areas, providing domestic water and maintaining the ecological environment.
