In the afternoon of July 2, monitoring on satellite cloud images, weather radar images and lightning positioning showed that the convective cloud area is developing strongly, causing rain with thunderstorms and lightning in many areas of Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring localities.
In Ho Chi Minh City, thunderstorms appeared in many wards and communes such as Cau Ong Lanh, Binh Tien, Tan My, Tan Hung, Phu Dinh, Dien Hong, Dong Hung Thuan, Trung My Tay, Tan Thoi Hiep, Binh Tan, Tan Tao, Binh Tri Dong, Binh Hung Hoa, Tan Binh...
In the next 3 hours, the convective cloud region will continue to develop, causing showers and thunderstorms in the above-mentioned areas, then expanding to neighboring areas. Common rainfall is from 10-30 mm, in some places over 40 mm.
The meteorological agency warns that during thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind at level 5-7 (8-17 m/s). Short-term heavy rain can also cause localized flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas.
In the next 3-10 days, the intertropical convergence zone will continue to move northward. Southwest monsoons maintain intensity from moderate to strong, while subtropical high pressure operates stably and from around July 4th, there is a tendency to gradually recede to the East.
Due to the influence of the above weather patterns, the Southern region will maintain a cloudy state, with intermittent sunshine during the day. Showers appear in many places, scattered with moderate rain and thunderstorms, in some places heavy rain, locally very heavy rain; rain mainly concentrated in the afternoon, evening and night with rainfall of 20-40mm, locally heavy rain over 90mm. During thunderstorms, people continue to need to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
