According to the report of Mai Son Kindergarten (Nhon Mai Commune, Nghe An Province) sent to the People's Committee of Nhon Mai Commune, from the 2023-2024 school year, the Nghe An nursery project will support lunch for children in three kindergartens of Pha Khao, Cha Lo and Huoi To 2 at the rate of 7,000 VND/child/day, eating from Monday to Friday every week. With this support level, the school can only afford to buy food such as meat, fish, eggs, pigs; rice, vegetables, tubers, spices and fuels contributed by parents.

In the 2023-2024 school year, 61 children will be supported with lunch, from October 4, 2023 to May 23, 2024. In the 2024-2025 school year, the project will continue to support 65 children in the above classes, starting from September 16, 2024 at the rate of 7,000 VND/child/day, then increasing to 8,000 VND/child/day from November 2024 until the end of the school year on May 15, 2025.
Entering the 2025-2026 school year, Mai Son Kindergarten continues to issue documents requesting the project to support lunch for 144 children, at a rate of 8,000 VND/child/day, eating 4 days/week from October 4, 2025. On October 15, 2025, the project announced that children would eat an extra Friday every week. Notably, on November 18, 2025, Ms. Do Thi Nga - the project operator - announced an increase in the support level to 10,000 VND/child/day, applicable from November 17, 2025.

However, according to the school, although it has implemented feeding for children since October 6, 2025, the Nghe An nursery project has not yet paid the food fee for October and November 2025. The delay in transferring funds has caused many difficulties for the school in organizing lunch for students, in the context that most parents in the locality have especially difficult circumstances.
Mai Son Kindergarten has reported the incident to the People's Committee of Nhon Mai commune, requesting relevant agencies to consider and clarify the implementation of lunch support of the Nghe An nursery project for the school.
According to the investigation of Lao Dong Newspaper, the nursery project works directly with the school, without going through the Department of Education and Training, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union or People's Committees of communes. These units have not received reports on activities as well as financial revenue and expenditure of the project.
According to an introduction on media channels, the Nourishing Children charity project in Nghe An has been implemented since 2019, with the goal of supporting boarding meals for students in mountainous areas and areas with special difficulties.
The project was initiated by Ms. Do Thi Nga, who introduced herself as the Head of the Standing Committee of the National Volunteer Network of the Central region - National Volunteer Center.
The commonly advertised contribution level is from 1.5 to nearly 2 million VND for each student in a school year. According to the reflection of the group of benefactors, at Muong Ai, Nam Can, Luong Minh, Nhon Mai, Xa Luong schools... in Nghe An province alone, 241 students were adopted by 61 benefactors, with a donation of more than 514 million VND. If calculated over many years, the number is said to be very much larger.
However, since October 15, 2025, many benefactors have said they have not been able to contact Ms. Do Thi Nga to compare their revenues and expenses. Upset by the project's silence, they sent a petition to the authorities of Nghe An province, requesting clarification on the management and use of the fund.
The Office of the Investigation Police Agency of Nghe An Province Police said that it has transferred the complaints of the benefactors to the Criminal Police Department for consideration and settlement according to its authority.
