On the afternoon of August 1, informing Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of Project Management Board 2 - Ministry of Construction (the unit constructing National Highway 279) said that after many hours of efforts to clear rocks and soil, at around 6:30 p.m. the same day, the landslide at Km160+500 on National Highway 279 through Nam Xe commune was cleared.
"To immediately fix traffic and avoid congestion, we have mobilized all machinery, equipment and human resources to work continuously to soon open the road. At the same time, about 11,000m3 of landslide soil and rock were cleared," the representative of Project Management Board 2 added.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, due to heavy rain on the night of July 31 and the morning of August 1, a landslide appeared at Km160+500 on National Highway 279 with thousands of cubic meters of rock and soil, causing traffic congestion in the direction of Lao Cai - Lai Chau.
To ensure traffic safety, Nam Xe Commune Police have stretched ropes, temporarily stopped vehicles from traveling through the landslide area to ensure safety and create conditions for the construction unit to bring machinery to the scene to fix the problem.
