On the morning of February 28, the Tang Long bridge project, spanning Trau Trau canal on La Xuan Oai street, Truong Thanh ward, Thu Duc city, officially opened one branch of the bridge after many years of waiting by the people.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Quy (residing in Thu Duc City) shared that seeing people struggling to move on the old bridge for many years, she was happy that people now have the opportunity to walk on the new bridge.
"Every day, this road is often congested, people struggle to travel on old, small, narrow bridges, and sometimes the old bridges lose their iron plates, which is extremely dangerous," said Ms. Quy.
Mr. Bui Van Nghia (residing in Thu Duc City) said that this morning he took the opportunity to go around the new bridge twice.
"Since a few days ago, when our people heard about the bridge being prepared to open to traffic, everyone was happy and hoped that this bridge would help people move more conveniently," said Mr. Nghia.
The Tang Long bridge project across Trau Trau canal is 231m long, including 2 branches, each branch is 11m wide for 2 lanes and sidewalks. The two ends of the bridge are access roads with a total length of 559m, along with lighting, trees, and drainage systems.
The project started construction at the end of 2017, and in September 2019, when it reached more than 30% of the volume, the project had to be temporarily suspended due to land clearance problems.
The project has a total investment of 741.1 billion VND, of which the construction cost is 688 billion VND, the compensation and site clearance cost is 53.1 billion VND.
The representative of the Investor - Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) said that a branch of the newly opened Tang Long bridge project will contribute to reducing the load on the existing La Xuan Oai road, the old Tang Long bridge that has been overloaded for many years.
After the opening, the units will continue to complete the remaining bridge branches and other items according to the plan by the end of 2025.
When completed, Tang Long Bridge will increase the connection of La Xuan Oai Street, an axis route through Tang Nhon Phu A, Long Truong, Truong Thanh wards (Thu Duc city), serving traffic between neighboring urban areas, contributing to economic development and urban embellishment, while helping to reduce congestion in the eastern area of Ho Chi Minh City.
