According to information from the Ha Long Bay - Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board, from May 23 to May 28, about 7,000 aquaculture cages, 3 bamboo rafts with a total area of 180m2, along with about 8m3 of foam buoys and waste generated from illegal aquaculture activities were collected.
All collected items and waste are transported ashore for destruction or handover to the waste treatment unit, in order to avoid reuse and spread to the environment.
During the implementation process, each day the unit arranges forces and specialized vehicles to move through many small island areas to inspect and collect remaining waste.
Previously, the Ha Long Bay - Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board organized propaganda and mobilized people to voluntarily dismantle cages and rafts, recover assets and terminate illegal aquaculture activities.
The collection and handling of cages, rafts, and illegal aquaculture items is aimed at strengthening environmental protection, preserving landscape, tourist aesthetics, and improving the quality of destinations in Ha Long Bay.
