On the morning of October 23, in Cam Thanh ward, Quang Ngai province, a traffic incident occurred, causing many containers of liquid substances suspected to be chemicals to spill onto the road, giving off a strong smell, causing concern to local residents.
At about 7:40 a.m. the same day, a tractor trailer with license plate 76F-006.19 pulling a trailer carrying 7 boxes of liquid was traveling on Le Loi Street, heading towards National Highway 1A. When arriving in front of house number 36, Cam Thanh ward, the car suddenly had an accident, causing 4 large boxes to fall onto the road. The transparent white liquid spilled everywhere, creating an unpleasant smell that spread.
Many households living near the area quickly closed their doors and used masks to avoid inhaling strange odors. Some people reported that the stench was quite strong, causing discomfort and worry that this could be a toxic chemical.
Immediately after the incident, Cam Thanh Ward Police, Traffic Police and Quang Ngai Provincial Police were present at the scene to direct traffic and block off the area, while coordinating to handle and clean up the amount of spilled liquid.
Currently, the authorities are verifying the composition of the liquid, clarifying the cause of the incident and assessing the level of impact on the environment and people's health.
