On April 9, the Department of Health of Dak Lak province said that the unit had an official report on the food poisoning incident that occurred in Ea Drang commune, causing 86 people to be hospitalized for treatment.
According to reports, on March 27, Q.H bread shop (Ea Drăng commune) sold about 300 loaves of bread. By the evening of the same day, the first cases of food poisoning were recorded after eating bread at this shop. Patients showed symptoms such as fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.
By April 1, the total number of food poisoning cases recorded was 86 people. Fortunately, there were no deaths. Test results from the Tay Nguyen Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology showed that 5/10 specimens were positive for Salmonella bacteria.
Regarding food samples, functional agencies discovered 2 samples contaminated with Salmonella spp (in vegetables and ham) and 1 vegetable sample contaminated with Escherichia coli bacteria. The cause of the poisoning was determined to be that bread at Q.H shop was contaminated with disease-causing microorganisms.
Ea Drăng Commune People's Committee has advised the Provincial People's Committee to impose administrative penalties for food safety violations on the household business of Q.H bread shop, with an expected fine of 80 million VND.
Previously, at about 4 pm on March 28, Ea H'leo Medical Center received the first suspected poisoning case with symptoms of abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting.
After that, dozens of other cases were hospitalized with similar symptoms. Initially, 32 cases were recorded, all of whom said they had eaten bread at Q.H store before symptoms appeared.
