Resolution No. 1202/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Tien Giang province in the 2023-2025 period will take effect from November 1, 2024.
Accordingly, the entire natural area of 4.75 km2, population of 4,966 people of Huu Dao commune and the entire natural area of 3.44 km2, population of 7,705 people of Duong Diem commune were merged into Binh Trung commune (Chau Thanh district). After the merger, Binh Trung commune has a natural area of 17.37 km2 and a population of 23,989 people, bordering the communes of Ban Long, Diem Hy, Dong Hoa, Nhi Binh, Vinh Kim of Chau Thanh district; Cai Lay district and Cai Lay town.
Merge the entire natural area of 4.98 km2 and population of 15,284 people of Tan Ly Tay commune into Tan Hiep town (Chau Thanh district). After merging, Tan Hiep town has a natural area of 5.74 km2 and a population of 24,653 people, bordering the communes of Tan Huong, Tan Ly Dong, Than Cuu Nghia of Chau Thanh district and Cho Gao district.
In My Tho city, the entire natural area of 0.4 km2 and population of 10,553 people of Ward 7 will be merged into Ward 1. After the merger, Ward 1 will have a natural area of 1.18 km2 and a population of 21,097 people, bordering Ward 2, Ward 4, Tan Long Ward, Dao Thanh Commune and My Phong Commune of My Tho city (Tien Giang province).
Merge the entire natural area of 0.54 km2, population of 10,530 people of Ward 3 and the entire natural area of 0.70 km2, population of 11,101 people of Ward 8 into Ward 2. After merging, Ward 2 (My Tho City) has a natural area of 1.95 km2 and a population of 34,510 people, bordering Ward 1, Ward 9, Tan Long Ward and My Phong Commune.
To support redundant personnel after the merger of commune-level units in Tien Giang, on September 17, 2024, the People's Council of Tien Giang province issued Resolution No. 04/2024/NQ-HDND stipulating the policy of supporting severance of jobs for cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, and non-professional workers who are redundant due to the rearrangement of commune-level administrative units in Tien Giang province, period 2023 - 2025.
Accordingly, commune-level cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers are supported with half of their current salary for each year of work (including salary according to rank, position, title, plus leadership position allowances, seniority allowances beyond the framework, seniority allowances and reserved difference (if any) or salary according to job position).
Part-time workers, each year of work, are supported with 1 month of current allowance according to Resolution No. 12/2023/NQ-HDND of the People's Council of Tien Giang province dated December 8, 2023 stipulating titles, concurrent titles and a number of regimes and policies for part-time workers, people directly participating in activities at the commune, hamlet and neighborhood levels; fixed funding levels for commune-level socio-political organizations in Tien Giang province.
After the reorganization of commune-level administrative units, Tien Giang province has 11 district-level administrative units, including 8 districts, 1 town and 2 cities; 164 commune-level administrative units, including 135 communes, 21 wards and 8 towns. For My Tho city, after the reorganization, there are 14 commune-level administrative units, including 8 wards and 6 communes. Chau Thanh district alone has 20 commune-level administrative units, including 19 communes and 1 town.
