On September 12, information from Cao Bang Provincial Police said that up to this point, in the landslide in Ca Thanh commune, Nguyen Binh district, authorities have found 38 bodies.
Of these, 21 men and 15 women have had their bodies found; the location of 2 victims has just been determined, and authorities are approaching to recover them.
Authorities determined the landslide site at Khuoi Ngoa hamlet, Ca Thanh commune, in addition to the 29-seat passenger bus of Viet Trang, 2 5-seat cars and about 10 motorbikes were swept away. In addition to the bodies found, according to the government's count, there may be about 10 people missing at this landslide site.
Authorities have identified 31 of the 38 people who died. The total number of missing people is currently about 15. Among them, there were victims found swept away to Dinh Phung commune, Bao Lac district (an area bordering Ca Thanh commune, about 20km from the scene).
Because the victims' bodies were swept away to Bao Lac district, police officers had to carry the victims' bodies more than 20km on foot to Nguyen Binh district to hand them over to their families.
Currently, the road from Bao Lac to Nguyen Binh is seriously congested due to landslides and floods.
