Dien Bien - The authorities have found the body of an 8-year-old boy swept away by stream water and gone missing after more than 3 days of searching.

On the evening of July 7, Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Ke commune, Dien Bien province (old Muong Nhe district) - said that at 3:00 p.m. the same day, the authorities found the body of Lau A Anh (8 years old, residing in Huoi Lich 1 village, Nam Ke commune).

Accordingly, the victim was found in the Nam Cha stream area, the road from Pa Tan village to Huoi Sau village, Muong Cha commune, Dien Bien province (about 15km from where the child went missing). The local authorities have handed over the victim's body to the family for funeral arrangements according to customs, and at the same time visited and supported the family to encourage them to overcome the loss.

Previously, at around 8:00 a.m. on July 4, in Huoi Lich 1 village, Nam Ke commune, there were 3 children riding a raft across the stream together, just when the stream water rose and flowed rapidly, causing the rope to slip.

The two older children were lucky to swim to shore safely, however, Lau A Anh (8 years old) was swept away by the strong water.

Immediately after receiving the news, the leaders of Nam Ke commune were present at the scene, directing the search and rescue work. About 100 people, including police, military, militia and people, were mobilized to organize the search for the missing boy.
