On July 4, the People's Committee of Muong Lam commune, Son La province confirmed that the incident of two sisters being swept away and killed by flood had just occurred in the area.

Accordingly, at around 11am on July 2, 3 people, including Ms. Luong Thi Luyen - 31 years old and Ms. Luong Thi Lien - 29 years old, along with their biological mother went to Nam Con stream, Muong Lam commune to collect fish.

At that time, the mother of the two victims went xuc pham in another direction while the two sisters went xuc pham in the same direction. At around 6:00 p.m. the same day, discovered that the two children had not returned home, so the mother called the villagers and the family to look up and report the incident to the commune authorities for help.

Immediately after receiving the news, Muong Lam commune and other forces urgently searched and rescued. After a period of searching, Ms. Luyen was found dead and stranded near the stream in Phieng Muong village, Muong Lam commune, about 5 km from the original scene.

The victim's body was then handed over to his family for funeral arrangements according to local customs.

As of 4:00 p.m. on July 4, the search for the remaining victim was still underway, but the younger brother had not been found.

In recent days, prolonged heavy rains have caused many rivers and streams in Son La to rise, causing unexpected floods. The government recommends that people raise their vigilance and proactively take precautions to ensure the safety of life and property.
