On the morning of September 24, representatives of the Traffic Safety Committee of Binh Thuan province visited Binh Thuan General Hospital to visit and encourage passengers injured in the accident at 1:00 a.m. on September 24 on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway, section Km 227 through Ham Thanh commune, Ham Thuan Nam district, Binh Thuan.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Nam - Director of Department of Transport of Binh Thuan province, Deputy Head of Provincial Traffic Safety Committee visited the patients' beds.
After visiting and encouraging, the representative of the Traffic Safety Committee of Binh Thuan province gave 2,000,000 VND/person to 10 passengers injured in the accident. At the same time, they gave 5,000,000 VND to the relatives of the driver who died in the accident.
Speaking to reporters at noon on September 24, Dr. Le Huynh Phuc, Director of Binh Thuan General Hospital, said that the hospital is currently treating 7 passengers injured in the accident.
Previously there were 10 cases, but 1 case asked to be transferred to Phu Yen for further treatment, 1 case lives in Ho Chi Minh City so asked to be transferred to Ho Chi Minh City for treatment, 1 case asked to be transferred to the Orthopedic Trauma Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for treatment, so now there are 7 cases with minor injuries.
As Lao Dong reported, the sleeper bus with license plate 78B-003.70 traveling from North to South crashed into the rear of the tractor trailer 15C-147.64 in the same direction in front.
The impact caused the front of the bus to stick to the back of the tractor-trailer. Passengers in the bus screamed. Drivers on the highway stopped to help break the bus windows to get the passengers out. The front of the bus was crushed and deformed. The driver was stuck in the driver's seat and called for help.
Drivers on the highway helped pull the two crashed vehicles apart to get the bus driver out.
Five ambulances arrived at the scene to take the driver and injured passengers to the hospital. However, the bus driver, L.T.D (48 years old), died later.
Binh Thuan General Hospital received 17 passengers in the accident; after examination and screening, 10 people were injured and hospitalized for treatment, the rest had minor injuries and were not hospitalized.
The body of the deceased driver has been taken home by relatives for burial.
