Lao Dong Newspaper has reported on the situation of illegally exploited soil being massively transported to build the Quang Chu Industrial Park (IP) in Cho Moi District, Bac Kan, invested by Onsen Fuji Joint Stock Company.
Immediately after the reflection, the Working Group including representatives of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Bac Kan province, the People's Committee of Cho Moi district and Quang Chu commune went to the site of the Quang Chu Industrial Park Technical Infrastructure Investment Project to inspect the reality.
Document No. 3784 dated November 21, 2024 of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment sent to the People's Committee of Bac Kan province regarding the results of inspection and verification of information shows that the press's reflection is well-founded.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Bac Kan province requires Onsen Fuji Joint Stock Company to properly implement the contents according to the approved results of the Environmental Impact Assessment Report. It is strictly forbidden to receive illegal sources of soil and rock from outside into the project implementation area.
Although the conclusion of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Bac Kan province clearly stated that the reflection of illegally exploited land used for infrastructure construction of Quang Chu Industrial Park has a basis, the investor still does not admit it.
Mr. Vi Van Nhat - Deputy Head of the Quang Chu Industrial Park Infrastructure Development Investment Project Management Board (Onsen Fuji Joint Stock Company) explained: "The project has a residential road and there are trucks carrying people's soil running through, so it can cause misunderstandings."
Meanwhile, over many days of recording in early November 2024, reporters captured images of the bustling exploitation and transportation of soil from a household's hill (Dong Luong village) to level the ground of Quang Chu Industrial Park.
The above-mentioned land exploitation has been confirmed by the People's Committee of Quang Chu commune as illegal. Talking to reporters, Mr. Hoang Van Tung - a cadastral officer of Quang Chu commune - confirmed that there is no licensed land mine in the commune.
"The mining site in Dong Luong village is illegal. During inspections on November 6 and 7, the local authorities discovered illegal mining activities, so they requested a temporary stop and made a record for handling," Mr. Tung informed.
