Gia Lai Health Sector simultaneously disinfects heavily flooded areas after floods

Gia Lai - Immediately after the flood receded, the health sector sent forces to simultaneously spray chemicals, treat the environment, and monitor public health to prevent the outbreak of the epidemic.

On November 22, immediately after the flood receded, the Department of Health of Gia Lai province mobilized 180 officers, doctors, and nurses to the heavily flooded areas to handle the environment, reduce the risk of pollution and prevent disease outbreaks. The peak period of environmental sanitation took place from November 22 to 26.

In Tuy Phuoc flood center and Quy Nhon area, medical forces sprayed Cloramin B chemicals on a large scale, focusing on residential areas, schools, health stations, markets and public places.

Working groups coordinate with localities to clear mud, clear sewers, collect and treat animal carcasses, aiming for the goal of 100% of public areas and households in flooded areas to be disinfected.

The health sector also surveyed the level of pollution of wells, digging wells and water tanks; organized public well cleaning; distributed Cloramin B and Aquatabs for people to proactively treat domestic water.

Working groups monitored public health, monitored symptoms of gastrointestinal diseases, rash fever, pain in the eyes and dermatological diseases; guided people to health stations to examine and receive essential medicines such as Oresol, digestive enzymes, eye drops and dermatological drugs.

Along with that, the medical force increased the killing of mosquito larvae and ticks to prevent dengue fever, proactively detecting and handling early if an outbreak occurs. The propaganda work was carried out through leaflets and mobile speakers, instructing people to eat cooked food and drink boiled water, wash their hands with soap, treat waste according to regulations and disinfect water sources.
