On November 5, offshore fishing vessels in Vung Tau ward grasped information and the direction of storm No. 13 (storm Kalmaegi) and proactively moved to shore or found a safe place to take shelter from the storm.
Mr. N.V.D (a boat owner working in the net industry, Vung Tau ward) said that he had grasped the information about the storm, so he contacted the captain to proactively go to shore to anchor safely.
"Fishing boats are now equipped with communication devices and long-distance positioning, so when they have information, they should proactively move appropriately to avoid it. If you are nearby, it is best to run back to shore," said Mr. D.
Vung Tau Ward People's Committee said that it manages 549 offshore fishing vessels (over 15 m). Upon receiving information about the storm, following the direction of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on proactively responding to storm Kalmaegi, the locality promptly informed all owners of fishing vessels in operation through many contact channels such as phone, Zalo, etc.
Thereby, all local ships and boats have been informed about the storm's developments and proactively responded. Ship in the area likely to be affected have moved to avoid the danger zone, and ships near the shore have anchored safely.
At the same time, the ward also reminds ship owners to regularly update information and monitor the movement direction of the storm to have proactive prevention and appropriate production plans to ensure safety. The ward will continuously monitor, count and grasp the number of vehicles at sea, maintain communication to promptly handle arising situations.
