The Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center (HCMC Department of Construction) said that it has banned motorbikes from circulating on the above expressway access road since today. The ban on motorbikes is to ensure traffic safety after the right parallel road of the expressway has been completed and put into stable operation.
The recommended alternative route for motorbikes includes: Vo Chi Cong - Nguyen Duy Trinh - Do Xuan Hop - Expressway parallel road - Mai Chi Tho, and vice versa. The center has also fully installed signs, instructed people and coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City Police to regulate traffic.
Previously, the expressway was temporarily allowed for motorbikes to circulate because the parallel route was not yet completed. Now, when the infrastructure is synchronized, the city will restore the expressway lane in accordance with regulations to ensure traffic order and safety.
Also related to this expressway, the Department of Construction has approved a project to expand the section from An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2 (Thu Duc City) with a total investment of 915 billion VND. The 3.2km long route will be expanded to 8 lanes, with a 36m wide road surface, contributing to reducing traffic pressure in the eastern area of the city.
