On May 27, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction announced that from June 7, 2025, motorbikes will be officially banned from circulating on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, from An Phu intersection to Vo Chi Cong street, in both directions.
This is a solution proposed to ensure order and traffic safety on the road leading to the expressway.
According to the traffic diversion plan, motorbikes will follow an alternative route including: Vo Chi Cong Street → Nguyen Duy Trinh Street → Do Xuan Hop Street → the parallel road on the right side of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway → Mai Chi Tho Street and vice versa.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway is 55 km long, with a total investment of more than VND 20,600 billion, passing through Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province.
This route was inaugurated in early 2015 and quickly became the main traffic axis, helping to shorten travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to Vung Tau and the Southeast provinces.
Since 2017, in order to reduce the load on the An Phu intersection - the eastern gateway of the city, motorbikes have been allowed to travel on the expressway access road.
By September 2023, Ho Chi Minh City had put into operation the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway parallel route (from Nguyen Thi Dinh to Do Xuan Hop) with a length of 3.2 km.
This route significantly reduces the load on the expressway access, while conveniently connecting with major neighboring traffic axes such as Nguyen Thi Dinh, Do Xuan Hop, Mai Chi Tho, Ring Road 2 and synchronizing with the An Phu intersection.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is also preparing to implement the project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.
Expected to start construction in the second quarter of 2025, the project will upgrade a road section of more than 3 km from An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2 (in Thu Duc City), expanding from 4 to 8 lanes, including upgrading Muong Kenh Bridge and Do Xuan Hop overpass.
The total investment capital for this project is nearly 1,000 billion VND, using the Ho Chi Minh City budget.
The project is expected to be completed in 2026 and will be synchronized with the An Phu three-storey intersection - a key traffic project with a total investment of more than VND 3,400 billion, currently being implemented and expected to be put into operation by the end of 2025.
